Stories, stories, and more stories

I took some time away from the blog to rethink what I wanted to do with the content I am putting on here. During the time away, I decided I want to start gathering stories from across the web that feature queer characters and storylines. The stories will usually be ones from the speculative genre due to the fact that I tend to read more of those stories than I do any other.

Recently, Tor.com published an article by Bryan Cebulski, ‘How Do We Establish Speculative Fiction’s LGBTQ+ Canon‘. The article struggled with what to include and exclude from the canon. In the comments, many people brought up the exclusivity of canons and how problematic they are.

And that’s totally true. We should be aiming for a collection and not a canon. That’s what I’m gonna try and do. So, if you know of magazines or blogs that publish speculative stories that you think I should check out, please let me know.

Also, on a more personal level, I recently had my first fiction story published that features a nonbinary character. I’m excited and proud of it more than anyone will ever know.
